Untitled, 2016

Oil on canvas

26 x 24 inches

This piece is one of my paintings for the final project in Painting Practices class (SAIC). The painting is a hyper realistic, flesh tone study. Since I was self-taught in painting, I did not know how to properly mix flesh tones. I finally learned how to mix flesh tones in this class and became obsessed with painting the human figure. In this piece I explored new techniques of mixing flesh tones for a close up image. The exaggerated shades and contours allowed me to saturate the shadows on the skin.
